SÃO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - The President of the United States, Donald Trump, declared that he had obtained at least US$2.2 billion (around R$11.9 billion) in income throughout 2025, the first year of his current term. The amount appears in the annual financial statement released this week by the US Office of Government Ethics (OGE) and is considered by analysts to be the highest ever recorded by a sitting president.

Over the past 12 months, Trump reported receiving at least $2.2 billion. Of this total, around US$1.4 billion came from businesses linked to the cryptocurrency market, including family ventures and licensing agreements.

The financial statement is 927 pages long and is almost four times longer than the one presented in 2024. In last year's document, referring to the period before Trump's return to the White House, he had reported income of approximately US$622 million in 12 months.

The amount easily exceeds the values released by previous presidents. Speaking to the BBC, presidential historian Barbara Perry stated that the size of the declared income is "something beyond anything we've ever seen in the presidency."

In response to criticism, the White House denied that there was a conflict of interest or that Trump had profited from his position. In a statement, he stated that "all actions by President Trump and his government are taken in the best interests of the American people" and accused part of the press of reproducing a "false narrative" on the issue.

WHITE HOUSE EMPLOYEE SALARIES

Report sent to Congress details the salaries of 411 employees of the Executive Office of the President. Nine of them receive the maximum remuneration of US$197,300 per year.

Among the occupants of these positions are employees who work in lesser-known areas of administration, including functions linked to policy for digital assets. This is the case of Scott Brady, executive director of the Anti-Fraud Task Force; Harry Jung, deputy director of the President's Council of Advisors for Digital Assets; and Blake Deeley, executive director of the National Energy Dominance Council.

According to an official interviewed by the NOTUS news website, all were provided by other federal agencies. In these cases, the remuneration is defined by the originating agency, according to the federal government salary table.

The second highest salary paid by the White House is US$195,200 per year. This amount is received by some of the administration's top officials, often seen alongside Trump at public events and interviews.

They include chief of staff Susie Wiles, press secretary Karoline Leavitt and deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller. Also receiving this salary are Communications Director Steven Cheung, Border Czar Tom Homan, Commerce and Manufacturing Senior Advisor Peter Navarro and other team members.

Other Executive Office employees receive lower compensation. This is the case of advisor Natalie Harp, who received US$150,000 a year. Harp gained prominence in the American press after reports that he had left letters of admiration for Trump in private areas of the White House, including a message that said: "You are all that matters to me." The lowest salary listed in the report is US$59,661 per year, paid to three employees: a stenographer, a document management analyst and an information services operator.

Trump says Iran accepted "practically everything" in nuclear negotiations
