Bolsonaro's lawyers wanted the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, to be able to visit him on July 25, the date on which the Argentine head of state is scheduled to travel to Brazil to participate, in São Paulo, in the official launch of the presidential candidacy of Flávio Bolsonaro, the ex-president's eldest son.
Alexandre de Moraes' denial follows a decision taken on Friday, when the minister toughened the conditions of Bolsonaro's house arrest, banning him from receiving social visits for 30 days, with the exception of doctors, physiotherapists and lawyers.
Moraes also determined that Bolsonaro will not be able to receive visits for political or electoral purposes until the end of the presidential, state and legislative elections, scheduled for October.
The tightening of measures occurred after Flávio Bolsonaro published a handwritten letter from his father on social media, in which the former president reaffirmed his support for his son's candidacy and appealed for family unity.
According to Alexandre de Moraes, the publication of the letter violated the prohibition imposed on Bolsonaro from using social networks, directly or indirectly, through third parties.
After this episode, the minister initially banned Flávio Bolsonaro from visiting his father for 90 days and, later, extended the restrictions to all visits of a social or political nature.
In turn, Flávio Bolsonaro accused Alexandre de Moraes of politically interfering in the electoral process, alleging that court decisions favor opponents of his candidacy.
Since July 2025, Bolsonaro has been prohibited from using social networks, directly or indirectly, or from using third parties to disseminate content.
Alexandre de Moraes warned that all precautionary measures remain in force and that any new non-compliance could lead to an immediate review of the benefit, including the revocation of house arrest and the return to the closed regime.
The first round of presidential elections, scheduled for October 4, will have as main candidates Flávio Bolsonaro and the current president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who is seeking a fourth non-consecutive term.
Bolsonaro has been under house arrest since March, when he was medically discharged after suffering from bronchopneumonia and Alexandre de Moraes authorized the measure for humanitarian reasons.
The sentence of 27 years and three months began to be served in a closed regime, before the Federal Supreme Court authorized his temporary transfer home for health reasons.
