Ronnie Wood recalls conversation with Amy Winehouse: "We know there's vodka"

The Rolling Stones guitarist and songwriter spoke to The Sunday Times about “Foreign Tongues”, the band's new album, and ended up commenting on the relationship he had with Amy, who was facing problems related to alcohol consumption.

According to Ronnie, the singer even asked for advice during a difficult time.

"She said, 'Oh, Ronnie, what am I going to do?'

The musician also lamented the fact that Amy died so young.

"I'm sad because she didn't live her life to the end. It was like saying goodbye to Billie Holiday again", he said, referring to the American singer, who died in July 1959.

Amy Winehouse was born on September 14, 1983, in the United Kingdom, and died on July 23, 2011, after drinking an excessive amount of alcohol.

At the time, the medical examiner responsible for the case reported that the artist's sudden and unexpected death was caused by accidental alcohol poisoning. The death was considered an involuntary consequence of the potentially fatal levels of alcohol found in the singer's blood.

In 2024, Amy's trajectory reached cinemas with the release of “Back to Black”, a film that portrays moments from the British artist's personal life and career.

Considered one of the most striking voices of her generation, Amy was known for hits such as “You Know I’m No Good”, “Rehab” and “Valerie”.

The biopic covers everything from the singer's troubled relationships, including her marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil, to the addiction that marked her last years of life.

Marisa Abela plays Amy Winehouse in the film, which also stars Eddie Marsan, Jack O’Connell, Lesley Manville, Sam Buchanan and Spike Fearn.
