As he was not located, he was considered a fugitive from justice, according to delegate Ângelo Lages, head of the 12th DP (Copacabana), responsible for the investigation.
The report did not identify any lawyer appointed to represent Gabriel. According to delegate Ângelo Lages, no defender contacted the Civil Police until this Thursday (9) to deal with the case.
Civil police carried out investigations at addresses linked to the suspect in Catumbi, in the central region of Rio, and in Botafogo. In addition to the arrest order, the Court authorized searches to seize cell phones and other electronic devices that could contribute to the advancement of investigations.
According to the Civil Police, Gabriel is one of three people who participated in the rape. The other two suspects were teenagers at the time of the crime. They are also being investigated for their participation in another case of collective sexual violence, which occurred in January this year, in Copacabana. Due to this episode, the police also requested search and seizure warrants against both.
According to the investigation, the 2023 case occurred in a property on Rua São Clemente, in Botafogo. The victim went to the location to find a teenager who, at the time, was 14 years old. According to the statement given by her mother, after entering the room with the young man, the girl was coerced into allowing the other two suspects to enter.
According to the report, the rape lasted an hour and a half. The teenager also suffered physical attacks with slaps to the face and punches to the ribs. The police also claim that the episode was filmed and that the images were later released by those investigated as a way of embarrassing the victim.
Investigators said that images of the injuries and messages exchanged after the episode corroborate the version presented by the victim.
The investigation concluded with Gabriel's indictment for qualified gang rape. The other two involved will be responsible for an infraction similar to the same crime.
CASE WAS DISCOVERED DURING INVESTIGATION IN COPACABANA
The investigation into the 2023 abuse gained new developments during the investigation of another case of gang rape, which occurred on January 31 of this year, in an apartment in Copacabana.
At the time, four young people were arrested and a teenager was arrested, accused of participating in the crime against a 17-year-old girl.
During the investigation of this episode, the Civil Police identified evidence that two of the teenagers involved had also participated in the case that occurred in Botafogo, which led to the resumption of investigations and the indictment of the three suspects for the 2023 crime.
