The soldier's husband, Sergeant Eduardo Abner Pereira de Oliveira, aged 37, was arrested. He told the police that the injuries had occurred during consensual sexual intercourse in the couple's home.
According to the suspect's report, the two hosted a party on Sunday, the 19th, and consumed ecstasy after the guests left. The sergeant said that he and Michele, together for eight years, used to commit aggression during sex and that the encounter that night would have been filmed.
Eduardo also stated that the woman fell from a staircase and hit her head. Still according to the version presented by him, Michele refused medical care because she did not want to reveal her drug use.
The sergeant said that the two went to sleep and that, when he woke up, he noticed that his wife was unresponsive. He then took her to Odilon Behrens Hospital, where the captain was admitted at around 9:35 pm, with no vital signs.
The doctor responsible for the care informed the police that Michele had asystole. The picture indicated that the cardiorespiratory arrest could have occurred between four and six hours before arrival at the unit.
During his stay in the hospital, another soldier allegedly saw Eduardo discarding a box of pills similar to ecstasy in the bathroom, as recorded in the police report.
Lawyer Gustavo Nepomuceno, responsible for the sergeant's defense, stated that it is necessary to wait for the expert reports and the progress of the investigations before reaching any conclusion.
"At this point, it is essential to wait for the conclusion of the investigations and expert reports, avoiding any hasty judgment. The case is still in the initial phase of investigation, and all circumstances will be duly clarified by the competent authorities", he declared.
In a statement, the defense also said it trusted due legal process and the impartiality of the investigation, in addition to informing that it would speak out in the process at the appropriate time.
