The Federal Police (PF) presents this Thursday, 6th, the final report of the criminal investigation into the crash of the Voepass plane. The accident that occurred on August 9, 2024, in Vinhedo, in the interior of São Paulo, caused the death of 62 people.

Unlike the final report released on July 23 by the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Cenipa) of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), the Federal Police investigation focuses on attributing criminal responsibility and individual indictments.

Black box reveals recurring failures

Dialogues recorded on the Voepass plane's black box show that the aircraft had recurring faults that were not reported by the crews.

The transcription of the audios appears in the Federal Police (PF) report on the aircraft crash, revealed by Fantástico, from TV Globo, on Wednesday, 5th, and confirmed by Estadão.

According to the PF, the cause of the accident was the loss of control in flight caused by the accumulation of ice on the aircraft, the inoperability of the plane's pneumatic de-icing system and the failure to timely and adequately execute the necessary procedures for failure in the de-icing system, performance degradation, severe ice conditions and stall (loss of lift).

The report revealed that the pilots knew about the de-icing system failure. During the immediately previous flight, between Guarulhos and Cascavel, the AIRFRAME FAULT alert (signal for failures in the deicing system) was triggered eight times and the crew reset the device at least five times.

Cenipa report

On July 23, the FAB released the final report on the causes of the Voepass plane crash. At the time, it was concluded that the accident was caused by a series of failures on the part of the company, the aircraft, the pilots and the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac).

In a statement, Anac stated that it will analyze the report and said that Cenipa's work does not involve assigning blame. Voepass claimed that, over three decades, it "has always adopted serious safety, training and crew guidance procedures."

The investigation identified 19 factors that influenced the plane crash, 15 of which directly contributed to the accident. The rest were classified as having an undetermined contribution.

Voepass accident: 'Company sent us false information', says president of Anac

Anac's CEO stated that Voepass sent false documents about aircraft repairs. Cenipa report pointed out 19 factors linked to the accident that killed 62 people in August 2024
