Palmeiras rejects offers for 16-year-old jewel and bets on evolution with Abel

FLAVIO LATIFSÃO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - Palmeiras has already rejected three offers for striker Eduardo Conceição, a jewel of the Alviverde academy who is just 16 years old. The board's idea is to give the boy time to develop in the youth categories and, later, become even more valued in the professional squad with Abel Ferreira.

WHAT HAPPENED

UOL found that Palmeiras rejected three offers from European clubs for Edu in recent weeks. The interested teams were not revealed, but the proposals were around 15 million euros (around R$87 million at the current price).

The Alviverde management understood that the values are much lower than expected. Palmeiras believes it can sell Edu Conceição in a negotiation worth 50 million euros (R$293 million at the current price), between fixed and variable values.

Edu is only 16 years old, but he is being tested in Palmeiras' professional squad. Abel Ferreira's coaching staff took advantage of this off-season with many absences to prepare a new generation of "Academy kids", and the striker is one of the main names.

Abel selected Edu for the game against Chapecoense, the last one before the World Cup break, but the boy did not debut.

Those who follow Edu's daily life at the Football Academy say that he is giving work to the professionals in the activities he has participated in. Last year, aged 15, he was one of the highlights of the under-17 team: 13 goals in 33 games.

Just like Endrick and Estêvão, Eduardo has skipped stages at Palmeiras' base. He played in 2025 with the under-17 team, even though he was old enough to play in the under-15s, and scored 13 goals in 38 games, and was the only one born in 2009 in the Copinha squad.
