In June, Iranian fire at ships in the strait triggered a series of US retaliations that undermined the initial peace agreement signed between the two countries. The Strait of Hormuz, an important maritime route in the Middle East through which around 20% of the world's oil passes, was officially reopened last Wednesday (17), with the signing of the preliminary peace agreement.
