A 19-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of trying to kill her own daughter, just 4 years old, in Combinado, in the southeast of Tocantins. The child was found with signs of violence, malnutrition and in a serious condition, according to the Civil Police.

The investigations began after the Guardianship Council received anonymous complaints that the girl was suffering mistreatment. Given the information, the agency called the Military Police and the teams went to the family's residence to check the situation.

At the scene, agents found the child with several injuries to her body, malnourished and without adequate access to food, hygiene and other basic care. She was rescued, taken to a health unit and subjected to forensic examinations.

During her testimony, the mother stated that the attacks and the conditions in which she kept her daughter were part of an alleged spiritual ritual.

Initially, the incident was recorded as bodily injury and ill-treatment. However, given the severity of the injuries and the circumstances found, the Civil Police reclassified the case as attempted qualified femicide.

The delegate responsible for the investigation asked for the arrest to be converted from flagrant to preventive. The suspect was taken to the Formoso do Araguaia Women's Prison Unit, where she remains at the disposal of the Justice Department.

The girl continues to receive medical attention, while the Civil Police continue to investigate the case.
