BRASÍLIA, DF (FOLHAPRESS) - Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), scheduled the testimony of Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) for July 28th, at 2pm, in the investigation investigating the crime of slander against President Lula (PT). The PF (Federal Police) will hear the parliamentarian at 2 pm.

On July 7, Moraes had determined that the deposition would take place within ten days, giving Flávio the possibility of agreeing with the corporation the best place, day and time. The senator's defense, however, asked for the deadline to be postponed, which was denied by the minister this Friday (17).

Flávio had argued that the busy schedule of his pre-campaign for the presidency of the Republic, with "countless trips, displacements and commitments", would require more advance notice to schedule the testimony.

However, Moraes stated that the defense did not present "any proof of the impossibility" of Flávio being heard within the deadline initially established. "It is therefore necessary that the act be designated by this court, in order to ensure the regular continuation of investigations."

The inquiry refers to a post by Flávio on the social network

The Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, defended in the STF that Flávio be heard and mentioned that the testimony could even allow a retraction by the senator, which would be "capable of exempting the person being investigated from punishment".

Moraes authorized the opening of an investigation against Flávio in April. The PF concluded, at the end of June, that the crime of slander was clear, as the senator "falsely imputed the commission of the crimes to President Lula."

Flávio's team argued, at the time, that the procedure attempts to restrict freedom of expression and "evokes censorship practices and account blocking seen in the 2022 election". He also said that Moraes is "a central character in the recent democratic imbalance".

Pre-candidates, Flávio and Lula are rivals in the dispute for the October elections. The Datafolha survey released on July 8 shows that both are tied in voting intentions in São Paulo in the first and second rounds.
