JOSÉ MARQUESBRASÍLIA, DF (FOLHAPRESS) - Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), rejected this Saturday (8) a request from the defense of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to receive his sons Flávio Bolsonaro, Carlos Bolsonaro and Jair Renan under house arrest on the afternoon of Father's Day, this Sunday (9).

Flávio is a candidate for President, Carlos is a candidate for the Senate for Santa Catarina and Jair Renan is a councilor in Balneário Camboriú (SC) and candidate for federal deputy. The three are also affiliated with the PL.

"Due to the decision given on July 17, 2026, I consider the request to be prejudiced [invalid], since, except for permanent medical, physiotherapeutic and lawyer visits, other visits are suspended for a period of 30 days", said the minister in this Saturday's decision.

Family visits to Bolsonaro were suspended after the minister considered that a letter from Jair read by Flávio on social media violated household rules.

The request for the children's visit was made on Wednesday (5), and the lawyers argue that the request had a "strictly humanitarian and family nature" and did not interfere with the fulfillment of Bolsonaro's sentence or the precautionary measures imposed by the magistrate.

"This is a unique date on the Brazilian calendar, the celebration of which, even if for a brief period and under the conditions that Your Excellency [Moraes] deems appropriate, allows us to preserve family ties and an important dimension of coexistence between father and children", they wrote in the petition.

Former deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) was not included in the request because he has been in the United States since last year. He was sentenced by the STF to four years and two months in prison for his efforts in the country to intimidate the Brazilian Judiciary and prevent the analysis of the coup plot.

Bolsonaro is serving his sentence at home for attempting a coup d'état. He lives in a condominium in Jardim Botânico, an upscale region of Brasília, with former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro, his daughter Laura and his stepdaughter, Letícia.

In Flávio's case, he is prevented from meeting his father for 90 days - a period that lasts until after the first round of elections. In the document read by Flávio on the networks, Bolsonaro stated that his son is his "spokesperson" and the candidate chosen to represent him politically.
