A Russian attack on the Ukrainian city of Sumy was captured in images and shows the moment in which several people try to hide, highlighting the role of a mother who immediately throws herself on her daughter to protect her from the threat.

Russia and Ukraine carried out an exchange of attacks over the weekend. On Saturday morning, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denounced "attacks" that had hit civilian infrastructure "even before the air alert siren sounded" and that, in addition to the capital, the regions of Odessa, Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv were also affected.

In Sumy, the moment was captured when several people were surprised by the attack. In the video, people can be seen walking on the street and then looking for shelter inside a cafeteria. In that same place, you can also see a mother, who is in the company of her daughter and who, upon realizing what happened, stands over the child, hugging him, to protect him.

A video that captured various angles of the scene also shows the scare experienced inside the cafeteria right next door. Many ran inside the establishment looking for shelter, while those inside got up without knowing what to do.

Watch the images that have gone around the world in the following video:

It is worth remembering that, according to Ukrainian authorities, at least 11 people, including a child, were injured after a wave of attacks that hit residential and commercial buildings.

This number is added to at least one death and 29 injuries, including one minor, resulting from bombings launched by Russia on Friday night against the Zaporizhzhia region.

Zelensky stated that Russia launched more than 120 drones and 12 missiles, six of them ballistic missiles that managed to penetrate Ukrainian defenses, which is why the Ukrainian President insisted that his country sign licensing agreements as quickly as possible to manufacture its own Patriot air defense systems, agreements that he has been requesting for months.
