“I felt like there were too many plates that I needed to keep spinning at the same time and that the success and good things that were happening in my life only existed because of this excess work,” he explained.
During the conversation, Parsons shared that he felt suffocated by the work routine and the discipline he acquired to carry out his responsibilities was unhealthy. He commented that his "work ethic" turned into obsessive behavior.
"Looking back now, I realize that in some of the best moments of my life, I was unhappy in many ways. I wasn't happy, I was stressed," he admitted.
"The Big Bang Theory" ran for 12 seasons, more than 270 episodes and earned Parsons four Emmy Awards and a successful career. The actor almost refused to make a special appearance in "Young Sheldon", a spin-off of the original work, as he did not want to revisit the character, but he agreed to return to the role in the last episode of the series.
