Honored by Obama and owner of a coffee brand: see interesting facts about Tom Hanks

SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) - One of the most prestigious stars in Hollywood, Tom Hanks turns 70 this Thursday (9). Winner of two consecutive Oscars for his performance in "Philadelphia" and "Forrest Gump", he is preparing to play an American president, Abraham Lincoln, for the first time.

Hanks began acting in college, which he left to move to New York in 1980. In the same year, he was cast in his first television role, in the sitcom Bosom Buddies, where he met Rita Wilson, whom he would marry years later. Classics starring Hanks throughout the 1990s, such as "Forrest Gump" and "The Waiting for a Miracle" are among his films with the greatest search interest in recent years, according to data from Google Trends, alongside more recent films, such as "The Worst Neighbor in the World". This year, he returned to the screen as the voice actor for Sheriff Woody, from Toy Story.

In partnership with Steven Spielberg, Hanks produced three miniseries about the history of war in the United States. To support the country's veterans, in 2022, he created a coffee brand, with proceeds fully converted to institutions that support former combatants and their families.

Born in Concord, California (USA), the actor has been married for 38 years to actress and singer Rita Wilson, 69, with whom he had two children, Chet, 35, and Truman, 30. From his first marriage, with Susan Dillingham, Colin, 48, and Elizabeth, 44, were born.
