Diogo was facing spinal cord aplasia, a rare disease that compromises the production of blood cells. Pedro Fernandes, a family friend, said that the singer had been hospitalized for a few days for treatment.
The singer's health condition deteriorated quickly after the diagnosis, received at the beginning of the month. "The condition became very serious, it compromised several organs and the suspicion of spinal cancer also arose," said Fernandes.
The artist's wake took place on Monday afternoon, in Goiânia. In tribute, the family declared that Diogo left "a legacy of music, joy and affection".
