Former TV Globo journalist found dead in lake in Switzerland

He was about three meters from the shore, close to Rolle beach. People at the scene and emergency teams tried to revive him, but the journalist did not resist.

The cause of death has not yet been announced. The police in the canton of Vaud and the Swiss Public Prosecutor's Office are investigating the circumstances of the case.

Born in São Paulo, Chico Santo lived in France and had more than two decades of experience in journalism. Throughout his career, he worked for TV Globo, Jovem Pan, Portal Terra, Jornal do Brasil and Portal Tercero Tempo.

The professional participated in international sports coverage, including the 2002 and 2014 World Cups and the London Olympic Games, held in 2012.

In Brazil, he was among the reporters sent to Santa Catarina during the floods that hit the state. Chico was the first journalist to arrive in Blumenau to follow the tragedy and participated in a reconnaissance flight of the affected areas with then governor Luiz Henrique da Silveira.

His career also included coverage of the Salvador Summer Festival. During the event, he produced special records with names in Brazilian music, such as Caetano Veloso, Maria Bethânia and Ivete Sangalo.

Friends and former colleagues described Chico Santo as a happy person with an adventurous spirit.

Globo soap opera director found dead in São Paulo

The filmmaker was found dead in an apartment in the Copan Building, in the center of São Paulo. Police are investigating the circumstances of the death, registered as suspicious, but reported that there were no apparent signs of violence at the scene.
