More than three decades later, the essay returned to circulation on the internet amid the recent exchange of statements involving Mara Maravilha and Xuxa. Fans of Rainha dos Baixinhos recovered the images to counter criticisms made by the Bahian presenter about the new show and Xuxa's costumes.
Mara had commented on the concept of empowerment when criticizing the exposure of the body. “Empowerment is not about showing your 'pepeca' but rather raising awareness of the importance of taking care of women's intimate health”, he stated. In another statement, she added: "Right to be aware and ashamed of others as a woman! Right to speak, so I spoke, that's it!"

The response was published on the page of journalist Marcio Rolim, who shared a video criticizing Mara's stance. In the recording, he highlights that the presenter made 41 posts in stories attacking Xuxa.
The rescue of the old essay provoked new demonstrations on social media. Presenter and influencer Franklin David recalled that Mara had posed for the men's magazine in a shoot held in Praia do Forte, Bahia, with indigenous inspiration.
When commenting on the episode, Franklin questioned the way in which nudity was being used in current discussions. "Let's talk about Mara's 'pepeca'. Because the problem was never nudity. The problem is when freedom only applies to us. The problem is making her life transformation a moral ruler to judge another woman", he stated.
The declaration received support from other personalities. Simony, singer and former child star who also posed nude for the magazine, commented “I loved it”. Isadora Ribeiro, who was on the cover of “Playboy” on two occasions, classified Franklin’s speech as “Surgical precision”.
In addition to the photos, an interview given by Mara Maravilha to Jô Soares, when the presenter worked at SBT, also recirculated. At the time, Mara participated in the program to publicize her photo shoot and even stated that she had received encouragement from her young fans to pose nude in the magazine.
