Thinner cell phone, but with more battery? Like this? Battery life is one of the main reasons to choose a new cell phone. The consumer hopes that the device will leave the socket in the morning with a full charge and last until the evening without having to activate energy saving. To help in this search, the Buying Guide tested six models with high battery capacity. The devices evaluated last all day and then some. The criteria for choosing cell phones was that they had a capacity of 6,500 mAh or more and used silicon-carbon technology in the batteries. Energy capacity means how much energy the battery provides for how long. It is measured in milliampere-hours (mAh). For comparison, the iPhone 17 battery has a capacity of 3,692 mAH. That of a Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, 5,000 mAh. Unlike the traditional lithium-ion technology used in most cell phones, silicon-carbon technology allows you to store more energy in a more compact format. The devices tested were: Huawei Nova 15 Max: model in the intermediary category, has a capacity of 8,500 mAh, the largest in the evaluation (but not the one that lasts the longest). It cost R$3,000 in July. Jovi V70: also among the intermediaries, it is a cell phone priced at R$3,000 with a capacity of 7,000 mAh. It had the longest duration of the test. Moto Edge 70 Pro: with 6,500 mAh capacity, it is a more expensive smartphone (R$4,000) and with more advanced features. It has one of the fastest chargers (90W). Oppo A6 Pro: cheapest in the review (R$ 2,800), has a 7,000 mAh battery. Realme 16 Pro+: with 7,000 mAh of capacity, it enters the most expensive category (R$4,500). Redmi Note 15 Pro: Xiaomi's cell phone is also a more advanced and expensive model (R$4,500), with 6,580 mAh of capacity. In the top row: Huawei, Jovi and Motorola. Bottom: Oppo, Realme and Redmi/Xiaomi Henrique Martin/g1 All models in the test also have the quick recharge feature, which allows you to add more hours of use to the device in a few minutes, according to the manufacturers. See the result below and, at the end, how they were made. Infographic shows the results of battery tests with 6 Android cell phones carried out by the g1 Buying Guide Alberto Correa/g1 How the tests were carried out The Buying Guide asked cell phone manufacturers with the largest battery capacities available with 6,500 mAh or more. Apple and Samsung did not have models with high-capacity batteries or silicon-carbon technology when the brands sent the products on loan. The battery assessment was carried out using the PC Mark application, from UL Laboratories, which simulates everyday smartphone tasks, such as image processing, text editing, battery life and web browsing, among others. The test was repeated three times: With the smartphone screen calibrated to 70% brightness With the cell phone screen at 50% brightness With the screen with automatic brightness activated, with the test in ambient light during the day. The screen refresh rate was left at the manufacturers' default mode in all three scenarios. The refresh rate shows how many times the screen "blinks" per second, generating more fluid images and helping with the performance of heavier games. The faster it is, it also helps to consume more energy. The battery was charged to 100% and the tests ran for hours until the end of the charge. When reaching 20% ??or less charge, the test is automatically interrupted and shows how much battery life that smartphone can have, in hours/minutes. The result is an estimate of how long that battery can last away from the socket. In practice, the reality number may be different, as we do not use the phone intensively all the time. Additionally, each manufacturer calibrates the Android operating system to last as long as possible in its own way. Therefore, the 7,000 mAh battery of the Jovi V70 and Realme 16 Pro+, for example, can last longer than the 8,500 mAh battery of the Huawei Nova 15 Max. See below where to find the devices. In mid-June, in the online stores searched, the Huawei Nova 15 Max and the Realme 16 Pro+ were not available.
