Mother with autistic children is prevented from leaving a wholesaler after being accused of not paying A 39-year-old woman claimed to have been prevented from leaving a wholesale market in Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo, after paying for her purchases via Pix. To g1, housewife Amanda de Sousa Gomes said that employees claimed that the transaction was not included in the system. She explained that her two children, aged 3 and 20, are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and had seizures while they were kept there for approximately two hours. In a note, Atacadão said that there was "a national systemic instability in the Pix service" that prevented the purchase from being completed. In the images, sent by Amanda to g1, it is possible to see proof of the transfer via Pix and the cashier monitor showing that the purchase had been completed. "I want other mothers not to go through this. That other people don't need to go through this embarrassment, slander and shame, like I went through being accused of theft and in prison. I stayed from 9:30 pm until 11:35 pm, without them allowing me to leave", lamented Amanda. Two hours later, she presented the Identification Card for People with Autism Spectrum (Ciptea) to receive priority service at the cash register, as provided for in Law 10,048/2000. An employee opened a cashier to assist the woman, who said she had split the purchases into two payments via Pix, the first of which, R$234.46, was completed normally. In the second, R$ 186.01, there was a printing error on the note, but the amount was debited from the bank account and the computer monitor indicated that the purchase had been completed. The woman added that, even with the receipt, she was informed by market employees that the transaction was not in the system and that she could not leave the place until the amount was refunded. Amanda said she immediately called the bank's call center, who stated that the purchase had been completed and the amount would not be returned to the account. "The manager had already given the order to hold me there. And, if I tried to leave, he was to stop me. So much so that, you can see, according to the photos, the security guards were around me and my children", highlighted Amanda. "My son ran and hid behind a counter because a girl started shouting, 'You're not leaving, you didn't pay,'" she recalled. The woman said she was only able to leave at 11:35 pm, when her youngest daughter's father and a neighbor went to help her resolve the situation at the market. Amanda said that, even in the presence of the two, the security guards said they would follow her home if she left with the products. She stated that, during the two hours, she remained detained against her will, suffering embarrassment and humiliation in the presence of other clients. She highlighted that the children went into an emotional crisis, without any help from management. In the images, only a cashier appears helping the woman calm her children. "If I had all the money in the world, I would pay for my children not to go through this and I don't need to keep R$186. I made myself available at all times", concluded Amanda. g1 contacted the PM, but did not receive a response until the last update of this report. The São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP) reported that the victim was advised regarding the six-month statute of limitations for criminal representation.
