According to the Civil Police, the incident began after the victim's mother, Alan Robson dos Santos, went to the 120th DP and reported that her son had been attacked by her sister-in-law. The woman was unable to inform the identity of the suspect at the time of the report. After investigations, searches around the city and gathering information from witnesses, the police located and arrested the suspect, identified as Erica da Conceição Félix. According to the Civil Police, the victim received initial care at the Silva Jardim UPA and, due to the severity of the injuries, was transferred to the Alberto Torres State Hospital. At the police station, the woman confessed to the crime and stated that she attacked her brother-in-law after being insulted. She was charged with attempted murder and will be sent to a custody hearing, remaining at the disposal of the Court.
