See the moment when house is uprooted by river currents in RS The owner of the house swept away by the currents of the Rio das Antas, in Bento Gonçalves, Serra Gaúcha, managed to remove the furniture from the property minutes before the structure was washed away this Wednesday morning (22). Moisés Pedroso, 58 years old, was working to rescue his neighbors' belongings on the Alcântara Line when he noticed the rise in the river level and decided to empty his own home. Pedroso, who is a public servant, reported that the destruction occurred quickly. After removing the furniture, wooden debris brought by the flood hit the structure of the house, which ended up giving way and was swept away by the force of the water (see the moment above). ? Access the g1 RS channel on WhatsApp The structure was taken by the flood on the Alcântara Line, in the interior of the municipality, through the Rio das Antas, and dragged to the Taquari River, being seen in the city of Santa Tereza, almost 30 km later. There were no injuries reported. The number of people outside their homes increases and almost 200 cities record damage. The place was not Pedroso's main home, but a leisure space used on weekends, where he used to spend up to four days in a row. On the ground, he met with his wife, two daughters and friends. The resident regretted that he would have to cancel his 59th birthday party, which was already being planned to take place there in September. Despite the impact of the scene, the owner maintained an optimistic tone and highlighted his relief that there were no victims. "We feel it, but I'll do something again there, slowly, with the help of people, and I'll do it again so we can have some fun", he stated. "When it's not lives, it's material things, we find a way and we succeed. The bad thing is I always say when it's lives, that's more complicated," he added. Video shows house swept away in neighboring city This is not the first time that Pedroso has suffered losses due to weather conditions in the region. He said that he maintained a leisure space in the town of Santa Bárbara, on the banks of the Carreiro River, about ten years ago, but lost the structures there in three separate floods — two strong and one of lesser intensity. After the collapse of a bridge that gave access to the old property, he decided to acquire the land on Linha Alcântara, for which he is still paying. "We managed to buy this little piece of land over here. Things were already bad there, but we managed to do it, and I'm still paying for it", he explained. "Unfortunately it happened again, but we're fine, everything is fine", he concluded.
