The technique involves placing the child face down, with the head slightly tilted downwards, applying five firm blows to the back — between the shoulder blades — followed by five chest compressions, until the object is released or breathing normalizes. "It was a great relief, both for me and for the parents who were there, who were very distressed. I reinforce the importance of the community in general having a basic knowledge of first aid procedures to be able to act in situations like these", warned the lieutenant. The officer also highlighted that the positive outcome reinforces the importance of continuous training and instructions promoted by the corporation.
