Resende Police Station Disclosure/Civil Police Suspects wearing hoods and armed with rifles stole a car on Tuesday (7) on BR-354, in Resende (RJ). The group was on the run after committing an attempted murder against a couple in the Engenheiro Passos district minutes earlier. According to the Civil Police, a man was traveling from Cruzília (MG) to Barra Mansa (RJ) transporting a passenger using a travel app. Around 11am, the suspects, who were wearing camouflage and hooded clothing, tried to stop a car that was driving ahead. Still according to the police, the robbers then forced the occupants to disembark and stole the car. The group also took cell phones, personal documents, money and the victims' luggage. The case was registered at the Resende police station. According to the Federal Highway Police, after the robbery, the group fled towards Via Dutra. The stolen car was found abandoned by civil police officers in the Vila Julieta neighborhood, in Resende. The criminals managed to escape the police siege. The PRF also reported that surveys indicate that the perpetrators of the robbery were likely to be the same people involved in a shooting attack recorded moments earlier, around 10:30 am, in the Palmital neighborhood, in Engenheiro Passos, district of Resende. At the time of the first crime, a man and a 17-year-old girl were on a motorcycle when they were shot. The young woman suffered injuries to her arm and leg and was taken to the Resende Municipal Emergency Hospital, where she underwent surgery. The man who accompanied her fled towards a wooded area shortly after the shots were fired. The Civil Police investigate the direct link between the two episodes to clarify the dynamics, identify the perpetrator and discover the motivation for the crimes.
