Student from Nova Friburgo will represent Brazil in China in the biggest technical competition in the world

The work guaranteed the young woman from Friborg a place among the Brazilian representatives who will compete in the world stage of the competition. In the last five years, only six Firjan SENAI students from the state of Rio reached the international stage. Now, Ryana joins this select group and takes the name Nova Friburgo to one of the most important technical competitions on the planet. In China, the student will compete in the Visual Merchandising category, an area focused on developing showcases and strategies for presenting products to consumers. According to Ryana, the challenge was precisely to create a proposal that combined technology and creativity to enhance the product developed. “I had to create a completely technological showcase that showed that this outfit is not just a basic piece”, explained the student when commenting on the project that guaranteed the classification. According to WorldSkills rules, competitors receive a practical challenge at the time of the test, without prior access to information about the activity that will be carried out. Preparation until then includes an intense routine of technical training and activities also focused on the behavioral, socio-emotional and interpersonal development of participants. Ryana also highlighted the importance of the training received at Firjan SENAI and the support of instructor Lunanda Motta, who was also a student at the Nova Friburgo unit. According to her, the experience already represents an important differentiator for her professional career and also serves as an incentive for other students at the institution. The achievement was celebrated during a ceremony held last week, at Firjan's headquarters, in Rio de Janeiro. At the same event, the Firjan SENAI Espaço da Moda unit, in Nova Friburgo, also received recognition as the best school in the state of Rio de Janeiro. In addition to the tribute to the Friburgo unit, another 41 students from Firjan SENAI received gold, silver and bronze medals for their performance in the state qualifying stage for the 2028 edition of the competition. Created to bring together young talent from industry and technical training from different countries, WorldSkills is held every two years and serves as a great international showcase for professionals in training. In 2026, Brazil will have one of the largest delegations in the competition, participating in the 64 modalities in dispute, alongside China, the host country. In total, 70 countries will be represented at the event. Ryana's classification reinforces Nova Friburgo's tradition as a reference in the fashion and technical training sector, now also with representation on one of the biggest international stages of professional education.
