The plot follows Ivani, a black woman and single mother, and her 8-year-old son Lucca, who try to survive in a world where food is the only colorful element on the screen, treated as a luxury item. According to Édier William, the film's purpose is to provoke reflection by showing that extreme poverty is a consequence of political and economic decisions, and not just chance. Rondônia's film has already been shown on four continents. The animation has already been shown at festivals in Spain, Italy and Germany, in Europe; Morocco, in Africa; China and India, in Asia; in addition to Canada, the United States, Mexico and Colombia, in the Americas. In India, the short film participated in the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival, an event that qualifies productions for the Oscars. In Brazil, the Sesc Film Festival took "Planeta Fome" to 19 states. The production also won awards for Best Film, Best Animation and Best Soundtrack.
