July 9th marks the Constitutionalist Revolution of 1932 and has been a state holiday in São Paulo since 1997. ?The Revolution of 32 was an armed uprising led by São Paulo against the provisional government of Getúlio Vargas, installed two years earlier after a coup d'état. As the movement was led by São Paulo troops, the date came to be considered the state's greatest date and became a public holiday only in São Paulo.
