The return section of Via Dutra will be temporarily closed to advance work on Serra das Araras, in Piraí Divulgação/CCR RioSP The return section of Via Dutra will be temporarily closed for work on Nova Serra das Araras, in Piraí (RJ). The action takes place on July 27th (Monday), at km 233 and should last around six months. According to CCR RioSP, the concessionaire that manages the stretch, the blockade will be necessary to implement the new layout of the new lanes, which is currently occupied by the return device. The ban will be temporary and will last for an estimated six months. Also according to the concessionaire, the return will be fully reestablished after the completion of this stage of works, which is expected to be released in December, together with the inauguration of the last viaduct of the new descent lane (Check alternative routes).

For heavy vehicles, the return options will be: km 243, in the Posto Mamão region; km 224, in the Ponte Coberta region. For light vehicles and vans, CCR RioSP will implement an alternative close to the operational base at km 233, with the maintenance of two lanes in both directions and an operational speed of 40 km/h. Guidance for drivers and monitoring Furthermore, during the closure, signage on the stretch will be reinforced with informative signs, which will indicate the next return points and messages such as “Last return before Serra das Araras'', and communication actions will also be carried out through digital channels and variable message panels. Vehicle traffic will be monitored by the concessionaire's team, with evaluation of queues, travel times and possible occurrences. If necessary, operational adjustments can be implemented in conjunction with the Federal Highway Police (PRF). In emergency situations, such as accidents or contingencies, a temporary reversible lane operation may be implemented, in coordination with the Federal Highway Police and the RioSP Operations area.
