Rua Ferreira Pena, in the Historic Center of Manaus João Viana/Semcom The first Gastronomic Street in Manaus should be delivered on November 15, according to City Hall. The work on Rua Ferreira Pena, in the Center, foresees changes in the circulation of vehicles and pedestrians, new paving, lighting and urban furniture. The 17 trees that already exist on the stretch will be maintained. The intervention covers around 190 meters of the road. The asphalt will be replaced by interlocking concrete blocks and the sidewalks will be covered in natural quartzite stone, known as São Tomé stone. The street will also have a single platform, with no difference in level between the road and the sidewalks. Benches, trash cans, planters and lamps will be installed along the stretch. Decorative lighting will be provided with suspended LED lamps. ? Trees will be maintained The preservation of the 17 existing trees in Ferreira Pena was one of the points that drew attention during the publicity of the project. According to Manaus City Hall, none of them will be removed. "The trees on Ferreira Pena will be maintained. There are 17 trees and none will be removed. They are part of the natural and urban landscape of the street and favor the entire concept developed for the "Gastronomic Street". Quite the opposite: we want more and more trees in Manaus", stated the director-president of the Municipal Institute of Urban Planning (Implurb), Antonio Peixoto. The trees will be integrated into the new street design. Benches and planters will be installed along the stretch, including under the shaded area of ??the canopies. According to the city hall, the work has 3,841.29 square meters of intervention area and is part of the "Our Center" program. Mayor Renato Junior stated that the new structure is expected to also contribute to the movement of commerce and tourism in the region. "Taking care of the Center means taking care of our history. It means taking care of a place that represents all the neighborhoods of Manaus and also the interior of Amazonas. The 'Gastronomic Street' will be a beautiful, safe space prepared to generate jobs and income", highlighted Mayor Renato.
