The 68th Regional Games in Tupã brings together 63 municipalities in the region. Tupã City Hall/Disclosure The holding of the 68th Regional Games of the 7th Sports Region consolidates Tupã as one of the main sports centers in the interior of São Paulo and generates positive impacts for several sectors of the local economy. From the 14th to the 23rd of July, during the ten days of competitions, the municipality receives around 4,500 visitors including athletes, managers, referees, members of technical committees and companions, promoting intense movement in commerce, in the hotel chain, in restaurants and in several other service segments in the city. With the participation of 63 municipalities in the regions of Marília and Presidente Prudente, the Regional Games transform Tupã into an important center for sports integration, bringing together athletes, managers and fans from different cities. The official opening ceremony, held on Wednesday (15), at the Elias Kenaifes Sports Gym, brought together authorities, delegations and the population in a great celebration that marked the beginning of one of the most traditional and important sports competitions in the State of São Paulo. Among the most memorable moments of the night was the entry of the Games torch, led by the Tupa athlete Yago Mateus, a highlight of Brazilian basketball and a source of pride for the entire city. In addition to the sporting spectacle, the event generates concrete benefits for the local economy. Hotels register an increase in occupancy, supermarkets increase the flow of customers, gas stations meet greater demand and restaurants receive hundreds of visitors linked to the competition every day. One of the most significant examples of this impact is the provision of approximately 3,200 meals to the referee team during the ten days of the event. Meals are served in restaurants accredited by the City Hall, directly strengthening local businesses and generating income for the food sector. Mayor Renan Pontelli highlights that the Regional Games demonstrate, in practice, the importance of sport as a tool for economic and social development for the municipality. "Hosting the Regional Games is a great opportunity for Tupã. In addition to strengthening the sport and encouraging our athletes, the competition boosts the local economy, creates opportunities for commerce, hotels, restaurants and various service providers, in addition to valuing the potential of our city. Tupã demonstrates its ability to host major events with organization, structure and hospitality, receiving thousands of visitors and projecting the city throughout the region", he declared.
