Quariterê Festival: free programming enhances Afro-Brazilian culture in Petrolina Sesc Petrolina holds, between July 30th and August 1st, the third edition of the Quariterê Festival. The Quariterê Festival will be held at Sesc Petrolina, located at Rua Pacifico da Luz, nº 618, in the city center. The festival will feature debates, musical performances, storytelling, workshops and recreational activities for children and adults. Among the highlights are the debate "Black Cartographies of the Valley: Quilombola Women and their Trajectories", the musical performance by the group Curimba de Yá, storytelling with art educator Nini Kemba Nayo, the self-defense workshop for women, the meeting "Poetry in the Garden of Ana", games of African origin and the gastronomic action "Ancestral Flavors – Afro-Brazilian Foods", held in the unit's restaurant. The program also includes the black storytelling workshop "Literatura de Erê", aimed at children aged 6 and over, and recreational activities for children. Some workshops will be registered by donating 1 kg of non-perishable food, destined for the Sesc Mesa Brasil program.
