In October 2024, he was re-elected in the first round with 54.82% of the votes, with Alysson Bestene (PP) as vice-president. As mayor, he faced an impeachment process in his first year in office, in 2021. He was the target of the procedure due to allegations of harassment against the city's then Health Secretary, Frank Lima. In a vote on August 31 of that year, his removal from office was rejected by 14 votes to 2.
