Participant in the Somos Divas na Luz do Candeeiro project, Landina Maria, from Quilombo de Maria Joaquina, produces several Prolagos ceramic pieces. Prolagos and Casa Museu Carlos Scliar started another edition of the Somos Divas na Luz do Candeeiro project, an initiative aimed at strengthening female protagonism through the appreciation of culture and ancestral knowledge. This year, women from the quilombos of Botafogo and São Jacinto, in Cabo Frio, and shellfish gatherers from Rasa, in Armação dos Búzios, participate. Over the course of three months, the students will take ceramics classes at the Casa Museu Carlos Scliar, in Cabo Frio. After this training period, monitoring will continue in the territories, encouraging the development of artisanal practice and the application of the knowledge acquired. Carried out since 2020, the project has established itself as a space for meetings, collective learning and strengthening community ties, using the art of ceramics as an instrument of social transformation. Among the participants in this edition is Larissa Fernandes, who sees the project as an opportunity to strengthen the connection with her roots and preserve knowledge that spans generations. During the workshops of the Somos Divas na Luz do Candeeiro project, students learn modeling techniques in Prolagos clay "I grew up listening to stories from my mother and grandmother about our culture. Now I have the opportunity to learn more about this tradition in practice and take this knowledge forward. I want to share it with my children, nephews and other people in the community. Ceramics are part of our history", reports the resident of the quilombola community of Botafogo. Quilombola seafood restaurant Rosineide Santos, from Rasa, also highlights the relationship between ceramics and the traditions passed down by her family. "I've already had contact with clay and made some pieces, but I want to learn more and improve this practice. It's a culture that is part of my history and that of my family. My grandmother worked with clay buildings and being able to learn more about this traditional knowledge has a very special meaning for me", he says. For Prolagos' institutional executive, Roberta Moraes, the initiative reaffirms Prolagos' commitment to the cultural and social appreciation of the territories where the company is present. "So Somos Divas na Luz do Candeeiro is a very special project for us. In addition to encouraging artisanal production, the project contributes to the preservation of traditional knowledge and the cultural identity of communities. It is inspiring to watch how clay takes shape and transforms into pieces full of meaning, just as we see these women strengthening their stories, their talents and their community ties throughout this journey", he highlighted.
