Luxury car was involved in accident in Bonfim Paulista Disclosure The driver of the Porsche involved in a collision with a pickup truck last Saturday (4) on the highway that connects Ribeirão Preto (SP) to the district of Bonfim Paulista denies that he was speeding, according to his defense. The man was identified as Ivan Claro de Oliveira Júnior, owner of a real estate agency in the South Zone of the city. "He says that he braked, because there was a radar nearby, so he braked for the radar. His speed would not be a high speed, because it was right after the radar", says his lawyer, Bruno Corrêa. According to witnesses, the driver was well above the speed limit of 90 km/h on the José Fregonezi Highway section. One driver even said that the vehicle was traveling at 200 km/h and that she gave way to him because of the dangerous manner in which the driver was driving. Then, there was a collision with the car in front of her, according to the witness. The defense denies that Ivan Júnior drank before driving. According to the lawyer, he decided not to take the breathalyzer while waiting for the lawyer to arrive. "He completely denies drinking alcohol. But remember that it is his right [to refuse the breathalyzer. It was an instruction from the defense, because I didn't know what had happened and he thought it best to keep it," says Corrêa. Cars fell off the highway The accident happened around 5pm on Saturday, at km 310 of Rodovia José Fregonezi, in Bonfim Paulista. The luxury car hit the truck and, with the impact, both vehicles fell from a height of seven meters. The truck overturned. The driver was rescued with minor injuries and taken to a private hospital close to the crash site. According to RP Mobi, a company that manages traffic in Ribeirão Preto, three vehicles were at the scene to signal the highway and guide drivers. The teams also closed access points, supported the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and threw sawdust on the road.
