PF operation against environmental crimes and money laundering in RO Federal Police The Federal Police (PF) carried out, this Tuesday (4), the second phase of "Operation Closed Eyes" against deforestation, illegal mining and money laundering. The agents carried out 22 search and seizure warrants in Rondônia, Mato Grosso and São Paulo. The court ordered that 17 people under investigation wear an electronic ankle bracelet. Up to R$11.3 million in assets held by the suspects were also blocked, an amount that corresponds to the environmental damage estimated in the first stage of the investigation. In this new phase, the objective is to identify the leaders of the exploration scheme. The PF also investigates how criminals hid money obtained from illegal activities. The suspects may be charged with criminal association, illegal extraction of minerals, deforestation on public lands and money laundering. Other crimes may still be discovered throughout the process.
