Petrópolis receives investment in sanitation Disclosure Petrópolis, in the Serrana region of Rio, will have an additional R$ 160 million allocated to expanding water supply and sewage until 2033. The planning foresees the expansion and modernization of the municipality's infrastructure to comply with the Sanitation Legal Framework, federal legislation that defined new guidelines for the sector throughout the country. With this new investment contribution, the total volume of resources allocated to sanitation in Petrópolis, by 2033, will be more than R$300 million. In addition to the expansion and modernization of water and sewage systems, the planning also establishes intermediate steps and mechanisms for monitoring results, allowing the evolution of coverage to be monitored over the coming years. In addition to improvements in infrastructure, new tariff benefits planned for different audiences in the municipality are being implemented. Among the measures are the expansion of the Social Tariff service capacity, the increase in the discount for small commercial establishments and the creation of a tariff benefit for philanthropic institutions. ? The Social Tariff service capacity will be doubled, going from 10 thousand to up to 20 thousand beneficiaries. With the expansion, more families that meet the eligibility criteria will be able to access the differentiated rate. Small commercial establishments are also being covered. For businesses with monthly consumption of up to 5 thousand liters of water, the discount goes from 25% to 50%, reaching around 1,500 establishments in Petrópolis. A benefit was also created for philanthropic institutions registered with the Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (CMDCA). The entities will have an 80% discount on water and sewage tariffs, contributing to the reduction of expenses with essential services and the continuity of social activities carried out in the municipality. "We are expanding our investment capacity to accelerate the universalization of sanitation services while strengthening our social commitment. The expansion of the Social Tariff and the new benefits for small traders demonstrate that it is possible to combine advances in infrastructure with initiatives that promote inclusion and economic development for the municipality", declared the director of Águas do Imperador, Márcio Salles.
