One of the complaints comes from resident Jaqueline Esté, who accompanied her husband to the hospital after he fell ill. ? What caught the companion's attention, according to the report, was the way the water was offered so that her husband could take the medicine. Jaqueline states that a professional handed over a collection bottle, the type used for urine and feces tests, and instructed her to put water in the container so that the patient could take the medication. "At the time I thought it was for another exam. Then she asked to put water in the pot and give him the medicine to take. I thought it was absurd and a lack of respect for patients", he reported. Jaqueline claims to have witnessed other situations during the time she stayed in the unit. According to her, a patient who had been waiting for care since the previous day, complained of being cold and only got a blanket after her insistence with the team. The resident also claims that the man had to use an improvised bottle to urinate because there was no appropriate container available at the time. Other complaints from companions also report the hospital's lack of infrastructure. People who stay next to patients spend hours and, in some cases, even days sitting on plastic chairs next to the beds, without adequate space to rest. Companions say that the situation becomes even more difficult during prolonged hospitalizations, especially for those who need to stay in the hospital overnight. g1 contacted Nova Friburgo City Hall to find out if the municipality is aware of the complaints and what measures will be adopted to improve the conditions offered to companions.
