Man is arrested on suspicion of selling driver's licenses in Franca, SP The Civil Police of São Joaquim da Barra (SP) arrested a 44-year-old man, owner of a driving school in Franca (SP), suspected of being part of a fraud scheme in the process of obtaining the National Driving License (CNH) for illiterate people. Investigations indicate that the man was hired by rural residents of several cities in the region to take care of the entire process of issuing the document and charged between R$4,000 and R$12,000 to carry out the service. The suspect, whose name was not released, was approached by police inside the driving school. He was arrested in the act and taken to give a statement to the Judiciary Police Center (CPJ) in Franca. Operation began after investigation into drug trafficking According to the police, the investigations began during an operation against drug trafficking in Ipuã (SP). The delegate reported that, at the time, a cell phone seized from an arrested drug dealer contained conversations about negotiating a driver's license. "A cell phone was seized, and when extracting the contents of that device, we collected some conversations, the conversation of a person who was illiterate, who was negotiating the value of a driver's license, so that he could pass the theoretical exam and be qualified to drive vehicles." Based on this information, the Civil Police identified the scheme and reached the owner of the driving school in Franca. In total, six people have already been identified in the scheme. Five of them from Minas Gerais and one from the rural area of ??Ipuã. The case remains under investigation with the support of teams from the State Department of Traffic (Detran).
