The Special Action Group to Combat Criminal Organizations (Gaeco) launched an operation this Tuesday (7) against an alleged cartel of businesspeople in the events sector, investigated for fraud in bids for shows in several cities in Santa Catarina. In addition to fraud, businesspeople and public agents resorted to paying and receiving bribes to make the scheme viable and money laundering to hide the amounts obtained through irregularities. In Santa Catarina, the investigations took place in residences and public bodies in: Abdon Batista, Apiúna, Aurora, Bombinhas, Brusque, Canoinhas, Governador Celso Ramos, Indaial, Itaiópolis, Itapema, Laurentino, Mafra, Palhoça, Porto Belo, Pouso Redondo, Santa Terezinha, São Bento do Sul and Três Barras. A warrant was also served in Porto Alegre (RS). The measures were authorized by the Court of Justice of Santa Catarina (TJSC), since the investigation involves people with jurisdiction by function prerogative. The investigation resulted in the adoption of several legal measures against public agents, former public agents, businesspeople and others under investigation. Among the determinations are the unavailability of around R$9 million in goods and values ??to guarantee eventual reparation to the public treasury and the application of precautionary measures, such as removal from duties, restrictions on contracting with public authorities, prohibition of access to municipal offices and contact between those investigated and witnesses, in addition to other obligations established by the Court.
