He claimed to have been followed and asked if he was a student at the institution. Gabriel left his university course at the beginning of this year. According to the document, the case came to the attention of the Public Prosecutor's Office through the dissemination of the complaint on social media. The university initiated an administrative disciplinary procedure to investigate the conduct and evaluate measures related to the episode. In a note, PUC-Campinas informed that "it was notified and will comply with the deadlines mentioned in the document". Why did the MP open an investigation? According to the document, the case was already monitored by the Public Ministry in a preparatory procedure. Prosecutor Cristiane Corrêa de Souza Hillal stated, however, that the deadline for this procedure had expired but steps considered essential were still necessary to completely clarify the facts. Therefore, the case was converted into a civil investigation. MP points out issues still unclarified Before opening the inquiry, the Human Rights Reference Center for Preventing and Combating Racism and Religious Discrimination analyzed the measures adopted by the university. According to the document, the body concluded that it did not identify a situation of institutional inertia, since PUC-Campinas adopted measures to investigate the facts, including administrative actions, specialized monitoring and review of internal practices. However, the evaluation also pointed out that the university's response was only partially sufficient and listed points that still required clarification. Among them are: lack of institutional recognition of the impacts caused by the approach to students; limited transparency about the results of the internal investigation; lack of detailed information on possible remedial measures; difficulty in reconciling the conclusion that there was no irregularity with the adoption of disciplinary and corrective measures.
