Little Louise Emanuelly was 39 weeks old when her mother found out she was being born. The family is from Alto Paraná, in the Northwest of Paraná. Tatiane, who is 30 years old and is not a first-time mother, told g1 that she did not notice any of the signs that pregnancy can bring. According to an expert, not noticing pregnancy is rare, but it can happen for a variety of reasons. See explanation below. ? This Wednesday (8), Louise turns 16 days old. Before that, on June 22, her mother felt such intense pain in her back that she thought she had a kidney stone. When she underwent the ultrasound, she received the news: she was pregnant and in labor. It all happened between 5am and 5pm on the same day. Tatiane claims that she gave birth to Louise without having classic pregnancy symptoms. Personal archive Discovery At 5am on June 22nd, Tatiane woke up feeling a strong pain in her back, which radiated to the "foot of her belly", according to her. Due to the intensity, she decided to go to the hospital after packing her children – an 11-year-old boy and a four-year-old boy – and leaving them in the care of her sister, because her husband was going to work. At the hospital in Alto Paraná, she remembers telling the doctor that she had been treated for a urinary tract infection over the last six months and that she believed she had a stone moving. She was then asked to undergo an ultrasound at a clinic in Paranavaí, 18 kilometers from the city. The exam took place at 2:20 pm and the surprise came right when the doctor started the procedure: "You have a baby. You are in labor pain", recalls Tatiane. Louise was born at 4:59 pm on June 22, weighing 3,335 kilos and 48 centimeters. Provided by the family Following the discovery, the mother underwent another transfer to Santa Casa de Paranavaí, where Louise was born through a normal, uneventful birth. She came into the world weighing 3,335 kilos and 48 centimeters. The baby's father, who has been Tatiane's husband for 12 years, was working when everything happened. The service location has no telephone signal and it was not possible to make contact with him, so he only found out about the pregnancy and birth at 8 pm, three hours after the birth. The name Louise Emanuelly was chosen "out of fear", based on a suggestion from Tatiane's sister, the baby's aunt. Other women who were at the hospital where the birth took place also tried to help with the choice. She highlights that she did not notice the lack of menstruation, as she had an irregular cycle with little flow. Other signs, such as changes in weight and physique, were also not noticed. "As I'm very 'strong', I didn't have a little belly, because it's still here [...] Louise stayed very quiet, hidden, didn't move or anything." Doctor issues warning g1 sought out a specialist — who did not provide assistance to Tatiane or Louise — to understand whether it is possible for a pregnancy to occur without the woman realizing it. Gynecologist and obstetrician Gustavo Vitorino explained that it is a very rare event, because pregnancies, in general, are marked by "unpleasant" sensations, such as nausea and cramps. The doctor reported that such symptoms are not mandatory, but that women usually end up identifying that they are pregnant due to a delay in menstruation. There are, however, "less common cases" of women who have this perception altered by overweight and menstrual irregularity. The doctor also warned that not identifying a pregnancy means that mother and baby do not undergo prenatal care, creating risks that can be identified during these tests.
