The survey evaluated 68 different products from six companies. In total, 377 items were found, divided between 32 original medicines and 36 generic medicines. Of this total, 177 recorded a value equal to or below the average. The comparison revealed that generics are, on average, 59.88% cheaper than the reference ones. ? The value of the product ranged from R$21.50 to R$79.41, which represents a difference of 269.4%. Among the reference medicines, the largest variation, 74.3%, was recorded in Amoxil (Glaxosmithkline) 500g. The Amoxicillin-based antibiotic, sold only with a doctor's prescription, was found to cost between R$40.88 and R$71.22.
