Marta Isabelle case: who was the teenager found dead with signs of torture The Federal Public Ministry (MPF) opened an investigation to investigate flaws in the school transfer system between states and demand the creation of national rules to monitor children and adolescents during this process. The measure was motivated by the case of teenager Marta Isabelle, found dead in Porto Velho after suffering torture and mistreatment at home. Marta's body was found in a house in the capital with signs of torture and violence. The teenager's father, Callebe José da Silva, confessed that he kept his daughter tied up every night with electrical wires. The teenager had been out of school for almost three years. According to the State Department of Education of Rondônia (Seduc), she left the state network after requesting a transfer to Paraíba. However, family members claim that the young woman never moved to the state. In the case of Marta Isabelle, the father informed that the teenager would be transferred from the state network of Rondônia to Paraíba. However, there was no national system to confirm whether the registration was carried out in the destination state. For the MPF, if this communication existed and it was found that the student did not enroll in the new school, it would be possible to initiate an active search and, if necessary, call the protection and security agencies to locate her. As first measures, the MPF sent letters to the Basic Education Secretariat of the Ministry of Education (MEC) and the National Education Council (CNE). The agency requested information on how the interstate transfer of students works, whether there are specific rules for these cases and what measures are taken when the student does not enroll at the destination school. Agencies have 15 working days to respond. If the absence of national regulations is confirmed, the MPF may recommend that the MEC and CNE establish guidelines to make communication between state education systems mandatory. The measure seeks to strengthen active school search and expand the protection of children and adolescents across the country. g1 contacted the Ministry of Education (MEC) and the Rondônia State Department of Education (Seduc), but did not receive a response until the last update of this report.
