Man dies after being shot by off-duty GCM during argument in Taubaté, SP

Taubaté Civil Police Sectional Station (SP) Laurene Santos/TV Vanguarda A 42-year-old man died after being shot during an argument with a municipal civil guard who was off duty this Monday (6), in Taubaté. According to the State Secretariat for Public Security (SSP), the case took place in the Estiva neighborhood. The Secretariat reported that the GCM was off duty and claimed that he had been threatened by a man who had a knife. According to the GCM's report to the police, during the argument the man advanced towards the guard, who fired two shots with the gun. ? Click here to follow the g1 Vale do Paraíba and region channel on WhatsApp According to the SSP, the victim was rescued by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), but could not resist his injuries and died at the scene.

The SSP also reported that the municipal guard's knife and gun were seized for forensic examination and that the case was registered at the Taubaté Sectional Police Station as homicide, threat and self-defense. In a statement, the City of Taubaté said that the guard "was in an establishment when he was approached by a man, who, during a disagreement, advanced carrying a knife. Given the situation, the guard verbalized orders to cease the attempted aggression, but, as the act continued, he fired two firearms shots, in self-defense." City Hall also said that, after reports from witnesses and footage of the establishment, the guard was released.
