PCRN The Civil Police of Rio Grande do Norte arrested, this Friday morning (10), a 51-year-old man suspected of carrying out a scam that caused losses of approximately R$175,000 to an elderly person in Natal. The preventive arrest warrant was served in the Lagoa Nova neighborhood, in the South Zone of the capital. According to the investigation, the suspect gained the victim's trust by offering help to reduce an alleged "over-indebtedness". With this argument, he would have induced the elderly person to take out several payroll loans. ? Click here to follow the g1 RN channel on WhatsApp According to the Civil Police, after taking out one of the loans, worth approximately R$ 110 thousand, the person being investigated was left with a supposed commission of more than 70% of the amount. The investigations also indicate that, whenever the amounts were deposited into the victim's account, transfers of large amounts were made shortly afterwards, in some cases exceeding R$100,000. According to the investigation, the elderly man has been trying to recover the money since 2023, but the suspect presented justifications for not returning the amounts. The Civil Police reported that the man had previously been arrested for another scam against an elderly person, which allegedly caused losses of around R$500,000. He also faces criminal charges for crimes of the same nature. After being located and arrested, the suspect was taken to the police station for legal proceedings and then sent to the prison system, where he will remain at the disposal of the Justice.
