The case happened around 10:20 pm, after the bank's monitoring system indicated the presence of a person inside the financial institution, which is located on Rua José Bonifácio, in the city center. According to the Military Police, the suspect was identified as José de Oliveira Neto and he was alone at the scene. According to the police report registered on Sunday, agents who were at the scene found doors and drawers open and overturned. According to the police, the suspicion is that Neto was in possession of the bank keys. The agents also reported that the suspect invaded the bank branch through the roof, as, during the inspection of the property, dislocated tiles were found. Neto even tried to escape through the window when he noticed the presence of the police, but was unable to, due to external bars. Contacted by EPTV, the Cajuru subsection of the Brazilian Bar Association reported that it was aware of José de Oliveira Neto's arrest and repudiated the crime. "The Cajuru subsection expresses absolute repudiation of any and all conduct that goes against the legal order, professional ethics and the principles that guide the practice of law. Law is an essential function in the administration of Justice and must be exercised with dignity, probity, independence and respect for the law." The OAB also informed that it will monitor developments in the case. "Once the existence of an ethical-disciplinary infraction is established, the appropriate measures will be taken before the competent bodies, in accordance with the law's statute and the Code of Ethics and Discipline." Also according to the OAB, Neto is regularly registered with the Brazilian Bar Association, due to the alleged commission of a crime, the investigation of which is the responsibility of the police authorities and the Judiciary.
