Former Roger landfill, in João Pessoa Disclosure/João Pessoa City Hall The João Pessoa City Council ordered the environmental recovery and requalification works of an old landfill located in the Roger neighborhood, in the capital, to be halted. The works are part of the first stage of the Roger Environmental Park. The agency pointed out failures of the company that was carrying out the works. ? Click here to follow the g1 PB channel on WhatsApp Rede Paraíba contacted the Consortium Cetus Lomacon João Pessoa, the company responsible for carrying out the works, which said "that there are open measurements that are still in the process of analysis and negotiations with the municipal administration". Also in the note, the company said that "it is in negotiations with the current management to complete the work within an estimated period of two months" and "awaiting the necessary approval and alignment for the resumption and completion of services". According to the city hall, the work was halted to preserve the public interest and avoid the continuation of irregularities highlighted in technical reports from the Executing Unit of the João Pessoa Sustentável Program (UEP). The document was published in the Official Gazette of the Municipality on Friday (3). Among the alleged irregularities highlighted are serious, continuous breach of contract by the company, including: non-compliance with the physical-financial schedule; delay in implementing the environmental goals set out in the contract; failures to comply with obligations related to the recovery of the area.

Another point that the city hall states is that these irregularities represent an imminent risk of environmental damage and loss to the treasury, if the execution of the work remained in the current conditions. The city hall reported that the strike resulted from the beginning of the administrative process to terminate the contract, as provided for in the Tender Law and in the contractual instrument itself. While the temporary suspension lasts, João Pessoa City Hall announced that the responsible company must maintain environmental control systems to avoid impacts resulting from the former landfill area. It is also expected that the company must maintain surveillance of the construction site, guarantee the safety of the site and collaborate with municipal inspection. In parallel, the city hall referred the case to the competent processing committee to investigate the possible application of administrative penalties, which may include fines, unilateral termination of the contract and declaration of unsuitability. The execution of the contract and the deadlines set out therein remain suspended until a final decision on the case. Most watched videos from g1 Paraíba
