The band, from Niterói (RJ), won the Band Competition organized by the festival last Saturday (18), in Ribeirão Preto (SP), and guaranteed the group's entry into the festival's line-up on August 1st. For cariocas, the opportunity to be alongside other great musicians is the band's greatest achievement. Two weeks before the event, they say the penny will still take some time to sink in. "It will only sink in when we arrive at the festival, looking at that structure. It's a dream. We've never been and we're going to play on a stage with the biggest crowd", says keyboardist João Soledade. The group said in an interview with g1 that despite the emotion and anxiety, they hope to enjoy the moment and take the public with them. "What the crowd can expect is to have fun. It's what we do on stage and it's what we want to demonstrate. We only do this because we have fun. Based on the differences and unique things of each person, we put together a band and, now, we're going to play at João Rock. This happiness will be transmitted to the audience of 65 thousand people", says the keyboardist. The band also features Pedro Marcolini (vocals), Pedrinho (guitar), João Rollim (drums) and João Cabelo (bass). The songs are influenced by MPB, jazz, funk rock and electronic music and address existential themes, self-knowledge and protests. "In our songs we seek to convey our naked soul, we talk about human pains and pleasures, the doubts of existence, self-knowledge and the psychedelia embedded in matter, always with a hint of humor and joy." The quintet's trajectory began in 2021, when the musicians decided to form a band while still in their teens. The official group, however, only consolidated itself in 2022. Lizium bets on original repertoire and 'psychedelic pop rock' to win the João Rock competition Disclosure The route included improvised shows throughout Rio de Janeiro. To participate in the João Rock selection, the musicians sent recordings of the live album "Lizium, O Espetáculo", recorded at the arts center at the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). Regarding future prospects, the band hopes to continue with a different proposal. "The next steps are to continue rehearsing, making music and becoming more and more diverse.
