The prospect of a more intense El Niño has put climate at the center of decisions for the 26/27 harvest. Irregular rainfall, reduced planting and spraying windows, and changes in pest and disease pressure required more technical planning to reduce risks and preserve productivity. In this scenario, Coopercitrus Expo 2026, which took place from July 27th to 31st, in Bebedouro (SP), reinforced its role as a harvest decision-making environment. In a single location, the producer found technical guidance and solutions in irrigation, management, inputs, precision agriculture, credit, insurance, barter and marketing. "The producer does not control the weather, the dollar or interest rates, but he can control the planning from the front door. Coopercitrus Expo exists to support this decision-making, bringing together technical knowledge, technology and commercial conditions so that the producer leaves the fair with the planned harvest", stated Matheus Marino, president of the Board of Directors of Coopercitrus. The 2026 edition marked the cooperative's 50th anniversary and brought together more than 130 exhibitors, as well as specialized teams to serve producers of citrus, coffee, sugar cane, grains, livestock and other activities. Irrigation increased production security With more irregular rainfall, water management gained importance in property planning. In the Cooper Irriga space, the producer was able to evaluate projects, equipment, automation, fertigation, maintenance and financing alternatives. The service was aimed both at those who intended to start a project and at producers who already used irrigation and sought to expand the system or improve its efficiency. The guidance considered the sizing of equipment, water availability, crop needs, energy consumption, the topography of the area and the economic viability of the investment. "In periods of greater unpredictability, irrigation stops acting solely on productivity and starts contributing to the stability of production. When well planned, it reduces exclusive dependence on rain and protects critical phases of crops", explained Maurílio Palhari, Irrigation Manager at Coopercitrus. The team also presented information about Irriga+SP, a São Paulo State Government program that supports the expansion of irrigated agriculture through financing with subsidized interest, according to the producer's criteria and conditions. Availability of inputs entered into risk management When application windows became shorter, having the input available when needed could define the result of the operation. Therefore, Coopercitrus anticipated negotiations with the main industries and presented, during the Expo, a portfolio of fertilizers, seeds, chemical and biological pesticides, accompanied by technical support for different crops. Agronomists and consultants guided the producer according to the area's history, the crop phase, the application window and the property's productive and financial strategy. Coopercitrus's work with Tello and Agroallianz expanded access to fertilizers, pesticides and other inputs, with a focus on quality, availability and security of supply. At Tello, the highlight was biosmart fertilizers, which combined mineral nutrition, organic matter and technologies aimed at better use of nutrients. Agroallianz strengthened the offer of pesticides by bringing the cooperative closer to the industry and increasing efficiency in the acquisition, availability and delivery of products. Precision agriculture reduced waste Climate variation also required closer monitoring of crop conditions. In the Digital Field, Coopercitrus presented precision agriculture tools, such as georeferenced soil analysis, autopilot, area systematization, machine retrofit and agricultural mapping. The Drone Arena hosted demonstrations of equipment used in spraying, monitoring and mapping. Technologies helped to direct applications, reduce overlaps and improve the use of inputs. "With tighter margins, investing better has become as important as buying well. Technology is no longer a window dressing and has become a property management tool", stated Vitor Grandolfo, Digital Field Coordinator at Coopercitrus. Protecting the margin was also part of the harvest. The effects of the climate were not restricted to farming. Drops in productivity, operational delays, the need for replanting and increased costs could directly affect the property's cash flow. At Coopercitrus Expo, Fincoop presented rural insurance and protection solutions for machines, implements, drones, irrigation pivots and rural assets. The service also included credit, consortium, barter and financial planning. Credit and consortium were able to support investments in irrigation, technology, infrastructure and equipment, according to the financial capacity and investment horizon of each property. The barter allowed the producer to negotiate inputs and technologies based on future production of soy, corn or coffee. The modality helped to organize costs, reduce exposure to market fluctuations and protect part of the margin before harvest. Marketing completed the planning The Grains and Coffee area participated in the fair with guidance on storage, classification, negotiation modalities, barter and market monitoring. Faced with climate uncertainty, deciding when to sell, store or fix a portion of production could be as important as defining crop management. Therefore, Coopercitrus Expo connected the purchase of inputs, production, financing, protection and marketing in the same environment.
