According to the agency, during the inspection, carried out in March this year, no signs of cracks or signs of collapse in the facade were identified. The information was released by Iphan after the collapse of the property, located on the corner of Rua 13 de Maio and Travesa Padre Eutíquio, in the commercial center of the capital. Iphan also informed that the property received authorization for painting services in 2022 and that, after the collapse, it initiated an inspection procedure, in accordance with Ordinance No. 187/2010, to investigate the case and adopt the appropriate administrative measures, including the application of an infraction notice. According to the institute, Decree-Law No. 25/1937 establishes that the responsibility for the conservation and maintenance of protected assets lies with the property owners. The body added that issues related to the stability of the structure, technical reports, the operation of commerce in the region and the release of traffic are the responsibility of the Civil Defense and the Fire Department. Belém City Hall reported that it is monitoring the incident together with the Fire Department and Iphan and provides support for the preventive measures adopted at the location.
