Children sing and make posters to say goodbye to the doctor Doctor Thiago de Moura Arruda, 31 years old, was honored by children after leaving the position in which he worked for four years at the Family Health Unit in the village of Lagoa do Romão, in Peixe, southern region of Tocantins. The farewell video went viral on social media (see video above). Singing the song 'Você é Especial', by singers Daniel & Samuel, the children thanked the professional for his work and affection. The tribute took place shortly after the doctor announced his departure, in April 2026. Three months later, Thiago is still preparing his heart to visit the village. "I confess that I still haven't had the courage to go there again. I'm very sentimental and I know I couldn't hold back", he said. Currently, the doctor works at the Aeroporto Basic Health Unit in the city of Peixe. He says that the new experience brings different professional challenges. “I experience social inequalities with patients in a more raw way, as in rural areas it was more masked by the union between community members”, reports Thiago. ? "This is Ms. Nerci, she came from Romão today to show me tests. Not because she was left without a doctor there, but because of friendship. We chatted for almost an hour", he said. Posters and smiles The tribute was carried out by students and teachers from the village's rural school. According to the doctor, the gesture became one of the most memorable moments of his professional career. "The tribute took place during the morning of care, the nursing technician called me and when I left the office I saw all the children in the community and the teachers building this unforgettable moment in my life", explained Thiago. On social media, after saying goodbye, Thiago thanked him for the affection he received and highlighted the importance of family medicine in building bonds with patients.
